This shrimp was found in the Sulawesi, Indonesia Expedition. It is Endemic to the Malili lake system; occurring in Lakes Towuti and Mahalona, and the connecting rivers Tominanga and Larona. In the wild it is a hard substrate dweller, most commonly restricted to wood.

Caridina Tenuirostris is herbivorous in nature, will graze constantly around the tank. They will eat algae wafers or a crushed flake, or shrimp pellets.

Caridina Tenuirostris enjoys the company of other shrimp including those outside of its speices. It is safe for all community life.
