Origin: Sulawesi, Indonesia
This shrimp was found in the Sulawesi, Indonesia Expedition. It is the only Non-Endemic species occurring in the Malili lake system; it has been found in small lakes north of Lake Matano.It is however, Endemic to Sulawesi, Indonesia.  In the wild it dwells on leaf litter, river vegatation, roots and wood. 

Caridina Mahalona is herbivorous in nature, will graze constantly around the tank. They will eat algae wafers or a crushed flake, or shrimp pellets.

Caridina Mahalona is never found with other species of shrimp, therefore it is recommended to be in a species only tank.
